When seismic isn’t enough for Oil and Gas exploration

Seismic data quality can be significantly improved when we use gravity, magnetic or/and magnetotelluric modeling to improve and refine our seismic velocity model. NovaSeis offers:

  • Gravity survey - measurements of the gravitational field at a series of different locations over an area of interest. The objective in exploration work is to associate variations with differences in the distribution of densities and hence rock types.
  • Magnetic survey - make use of the magnetic properties of certain types of rock that, when close to the surface, affect the Earth’s normal magnetic field.
  • Magnetotelluric survey - measures naturally occurring low-frequency electromagnetic energy to determine the electrical resistivity of the Earth’s subsurface. Integrating MT data and seismic data can yield an improved interpretation and reduce exploration risk.
